30 minutes of peace

Today I am grateful for 30 minutes of peace and quiet at our house. Last night while I was making dinner it hit me that no one had tattled or cried for quite awhile I did a quick check to make sure everyone was still OK. To my surprise my boys were in the backyard playing catch. The girls were in the house, Allie was dancing all crazy and making Rylie laugh. For about 30 minutes everything was very peaceful. I am grateful for the times that my kids are getting along, and enjoy playing together.

Q and U Wedding

On Friday, the parents of all the students at Ethan's school were invited to attend the Wedding of Q and U. You might wonder what exactly this is. Well, the entire Kindergarten put on a wedding. Each class had a letter Q and a letter U that were getting married. They walked down aisle, had shushers, flower girls, and other letters (guests) that were attending the wedding. The whole thing turned out so cute. They had the wedding and then sang a really cute alphabet song. Afterwards, Ethan had a Valentines party in his classroom. He said to me, "Mom, if you stay for my Valentines party, I will give you 10 dollars." It was so cute. Ethan is learning that he can buy just about anything with his money. How can you turn something like that down? When I told Brent, he said I'd better soak it up now, as it won't be long before he's telling me to get lost.

Where's my GraveDigger?

Kaleb cracks me up... Ever since we got back from the Monster Trucks "Monster Jam" last month he has been going through a GraveDigger phase. He has been wearing his monster truck t-shirt pretty much every day since then and playing non-stop with his monster truck toys, more specifically...GraveDigger. He is already on his third truck. Somewhere at the monster truck show he realized that it's cool when the trucks crash and wheels fly off. We are still looking for one of the wheels for one of his other trucks. Heaven forbid there is a moment when he doesn't have his "GraveDigger" with him. He eats, plays, and sleeps with that little truck 24/7... He's actually rolling it down the stairway banister right now. This morning he woke up frantically screaming... and when we asked what was wrong... and he said, "can't find my GraveDigger....my GraveDigger's lost." It was just under his sheets, but it's funny how GraveDigger has turned into his life support, that he just can't survive without. I think that GraveDigger is actually replacing his night time "doggy" that he sleeps with.
All hail... GraveDigger!!!

Best Mom Ever!!!

Anyone that has ever met my Mom has to agree with me, I have THE BEST MOM EVER!!! Yesterday was my Mom's birthday. Happy birthday Mom! I could go on and on about all of my moms FABULOUS traits for days. She is kind, thoughtful, talented, creative, a great listener, the best grandma, always helps with whatever I need(sometimes I can be pretty needy) anyways my Mom is really great! The other night I had been thinking a lot about when I was a teenager. Brent and I met when I was 14. Shortly after we met he started showing up everywhere I was. He started coming to my ward, stopping by my house, and pretty much hung out where I happened to be. Now that I am a parent I think how did my mother not have a heart attack. Anyways, moving on, Brent sort of became part of my family until he left on his mission. There was lots of nights that he had dinner with us and spent a lot of time with our family. Just for the record we didn't go anywhere by ourselves until I was 16, and I didn't kiss him until then either. Poor Guy! The point of my story is that my Mom never let my rules slide. Even though I didn't like them she was always willing to be the bad guy in the moment if it was the right thing for me. She had a rule that I wasn't aloud to see Brent two days in a row. She wanted to make sure that I still spent time with my family and friends. At the time I hated this rule, but now that I am an adult I am so grateful for her persistence. As a parent I know that the best choices aren't always the easiest. I am really grateful that I have a Mom that has always put my best interest first and now we are the best of friends. Thanks for everything Mom and I love you!

Disappointed

You know the feeling that you have when your ice cream falls on the ground? I have that feeling today, the "OH MAN" feeling. The Cardinals came so close to winning it all yesterday. After the game was over, we all sat there staring at the t.v. in amazement. They came so close. On the up side, I was really glad that they played so well. I wanted them to hold their own and they certainly did that. We are still proud of them.
