Papa has Bad Medicine

Last night for FHE we were discussing the Word of Wisdom with the kids and explaining how we should only put good foods and drinks into our bodies to help them stay healthy and strong. We then started explaining what drugs are, and how there is good medicine that the doctor gives us to feel better, and there is bad medicine that can be harmful to our body. Ethan, our 5 year old, not missing a beat, shouts out "Papa has bad medicine in his truck...." There was a bit of silence as our eyes got really big, looking at Ethan, slightly confused. Then he says nodding his head, "Yeah, but only on his radio...."

Kaleb has gotten really old all of the sudden. He is only 2 but he is such a smart kid. Our life gets busy just like everyone else's. We sometimes forget to bless the food or even to have the kids say their night time prayers. Kaleb ALWAYS remembers. We of course love it that he is in the habit. The funny thing is that he doesn't say mom we need to say the prayer. Instead he just says mom....Heavenly Father.....Amen. We always laugh because its such a cute way of reminding us. He's such a good kid, I guess we will keep him.(ha ha ha)

Crazy Hair Day

Today was crazy hair day for Ethan at school. With him being a boy we didn't have to many options. I bought some blue hair gel and we spiked it up. He of course was really excited and loved it.

Camping

Last weekend we went camping up by Muns Park with my family. We had such a great time. The weather was perfect during the day and it was a little cold at night but that was o.k. with us. We left on Friday around noon and came home on Sunday. We had fun playing name that tune with our ipods, making smores, and going for rides in the rangers. By the time we were coming home we were all pretty dirty and ready for a shower, but it was a great trip.

I took this picture of my mom and dad with their tent to show how small their tent really was. My dad has several tents and for some reason he chose to bring this 2 man tent. As we all know a tent doesn't usually sleep as many people as it says. Needless to say we all gave my dad a hard time about his cozy little tent. My poor mom had to change her clothes in our tent. We all got a good laugh.

Friends

Once a month we get together with Jennifer and Jerry at my Mom and Dad's house for dinner. Last night after dinner the kids were all playing together and I took a quick picture of Allie and Kaylie. They play together so well and always love to see each other. I think that it is really neat that I have known Jennifer forever and now our kids are growing up together. I am really grateful that they are the next generation of life long friends.

pigeon evicted

We have a pigeon that has decided to move in under the peak of our house. You can imagine how happy Brent is about this. On Saturday he climbed on the roof and decided it was time for him to go. He used a rake to pull him out, and cleaned off the roof with the hose. There was poop everywhere. He decided to let the pigeon live but if he comes back next time he won't be so lucky. I told Brent if it continues to be a problem, we will have to have a professional come out and take care of it.

Rewards

We have been trying to come up with a rewards system at our house. I think that my kids have been getting a little lazy lately or I have been getting lazy. I guess you never can tell. Anyways I wanted my kids to be able to earn things for good behavior, cleaning their rooms, doing their chores and so on. I had a preschool parent share with me the rewards system that has worked for her. We are going to give it a whirl. I thought I would share the idea in case anyone is interested. Each kid gets their own jar, I let my kids decorate theirs to try and make it extra special. Every day they can earn marbles for certain things. I am letting them earn marbles for things that I want them to do. They have the chance to earn 7 marbles a day. Once they fill up their jar then they can pick from a special "treasure box". Now the last thing we need at our house is more toys. I decided that our treasure box needed to be filled with fun outings. They can pick to go to a movie with Daddy, or spend the night at Grandma and Papa's house or maybe go to the park. So far it appears to be working. They are whipping into shape quite nicely. We hope that it lasts.

Ethan was pretty funny when we were talking about the outings in treasure box. He was listing off things that might be in there and then all of the sudden he said "we can go to Disneyland, or the cabin...." I had to crush his dream a little. I told him that our next trip to Disneyland isn't going to be based on his jar being full. I had to laugh, I guess he was hoping to sneak it in.

Lake Trip

On Saturday we went to the lake with Mark and Jaymi and the girls. I left Rylie at home with Aunt Loni and Uncle Chris. They are great babysitters. We love them! We got to the lake really early so that we all had nice water to ski and wake board. Brent landed a nice jump on the wake board but we had a video camera problem and we missed it. I told him we will have to catch it next time. Then we moved on to the tubing. The kids had a blast. If it were up to them we would probably still be at the lake. Good times!!!

Labor Day

It always seems like holiday's are far busier for us then any other day. I guess we like it that way. We got up early and met my mom and dad, and Loni and Chris in the desert. The boys brought several guns and did a little bit of shooting. Ethan loves to shoot his little 22. Allie shot maybe twice and then she was done. She is such a girlie girl. I guess its not really her thing. The boys had a blast blowing things up with the AR15 (machine gun). I think they felt a little bit like Rambo. The rest of us cruised around the desert in the ranger and had a great time. When we were all done we packed it up and headed to Brian and Nancy's (my aunt and uncle) house for a family bbq and swimming. We had lots of yummy food and had a great time. We always love the chance to get together with all of our family.

I had to give my dad a hard time about his make shift roof. He has been so busy landscaping the new house that he hasn't had a chance to take his new ranger in and have a hard top put on. Being the thoughtful dad that he is, he rigged up this tarp so that we could ride in the shade. I just had to give him a hard time.
